This lovely couple is a pair of Australian King Parrots, surrounded by a few of our resident flock of Crested Pigeons. The Female King Parrot has much less red on her, being the same green as her head down her chest, with just a pair of red 'pants' showing. These are sweet, gentle birds, both with each other and with other birds in the community. They have to be my favourite parrots. Usually, these are forest dwellers, not often seen in our more open area.. In our area there has been a concerted effort among farmers to plant many more native trees, to provide 'green corridors' over their open properties from one forested area to the next. This male wears a leg ring as part of a local study to gauge the success of these 'corridors'. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be visited very regularly by this pair and their ofspring.
Lovely pic, Wattle. They look peaceable birds, somehow. Even your pigeons look exotic!
Beautiful pigeons. Parrots too.
Wow this makes me want to visit Oz sooner rather than later...even your pigeons look interesting!
Ha ha ha! These Crested Pidgeons are native birds, completely harmless and non threatening to other birds. We regard them as our wild 'chooks'!!! They use our place as a resort, and as you can see are quite fat.
That's a fantastic picture. Those are great looking birds.
Just happened to notice your picture of parrots and they look identical to the parrot I have just posted on this site, which has been living in our village in the North of England.
Thank you.
