Cheddar is jam-packed full of wildlife.

But the jackdaws have stopped cawing and the green woodpecker has put a sock in it. And for good reason.

Whoosh! There I go - Cheddar's speediest resident. Us peregrines - diving and stooping over the towering gorge – have a hungry family to feed.

The mice might also want to pipe down – the kestrel is about.

A teetering mountain goat has disturbed the resident ravens - although the dormice haven't noticed, they're fast asleep.

Awww!! It's July and we've just spotted the water vole babies. Look, right there! Noshing on the weeds – yep, next to the grey wagtail. And no, that might sound like a cat, but it's a buzzard soaring way above us, catching the thermals.

It's free to come and see us. Or, you can treat yourself to an Explorer ticket for the chance to delve deep into the caves, spot spiders and bats, and marvel at the limestone cliffs from an open-top bus.

When can you see us?

Join friendly staff and volunteers at the Cheddar Horseshoe bend car park, every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 4 - 6pm.

What's at the site?

There are many café's, shops and restaurants in the Gorges.
