With our shining black feathers and blood-red legs and bills we think we're a bit - well - special.
As the rarest British members of the crow family you're not likely to bump into us choughs in many places. So when you visit our nesting site deep in the wild Welsh hills, we know you'll agree.
You'll be able to watch us on the nestcam in the visitor centre, or take a trip deep into the caverns aboard the Miners' Tramway. If you're lucky, you might even spot us flying in and out of the cavern with food for our noisy chicks.
Some say that King Arthur was magically changed into a chough when he died. As it's not every day you’ll meet royalty, do be sure to drop in to our cavern for an audience.
Entry to the caverns costs £2 for adults, £1 for children and £1.50 for seniors. Trips on the Miners' Tramway tour cost £10.25 for adults, £8.25 for children and £9.25 for seniors. A 10 per cent discount is available to RSPB members.
When can you see us?
Friendly staff will be on site most of the days that this date is running.
Llechwedd Slate Caverns are open every day (except Christmas Day) between 10am - 6pm.
What's at the site?
Unfortunately, it's not possible to bring wheelchairs on the trams. You can get a bite to eat from a number of places, including the Victorian Confectionary Shop, The Miners' Arms pub, serving a full lunch during the summer months, a café serving hot meals and light snacks and a retail shop.
