Ardnamurchan golden eagles

Golden eagles, with their huge wingspan, keen vision and powerful claws, have long been an inspiration for poetry and prose, as well as being an icon for Scotland.

Now you can get close to these amazing birds of prey at the Ardnamurchan Natural History Centre viewpoint, where staff will be on hand with the latest viewing technology to give you spectacular views of golden eagles in their natural habitat.

Don't forget to take in the amazing views that surround the Ardnamurchan Natural History Centre, and watch out for pine martens, woodland birds, herons, dippers and even otters.

The centre houses fascinating displays and information about not only the challenges golden eagles face day-to-day to ensure their survival and that they rear healthy chicks, but also the huge range of other wildlife that make the Ardnamurchan Peninsula their home.

There is an admission price to the Living Building at the centre.

When can you see us?

The centre is open Monday–Saturday, 10.30 am–5.30 pm, and Sunday 12 noon–5.30 pm. Please note, though the centre is open on Saturday there will be no RSPB officer available on that day.

How to find us

Take the short ferry crossing from Corran (south of Fort William on the A82) to Ardgour. Follow the A861 through Strontian to Salen and then turn left onto the B8007 for the final nine miles to Glenmore.
