We don't mind if we get a mouthful off other birds.

Life can be tough when you're a small bird competing for fish among flocks of hungry guillemots and razorbills. That's why our colourful beaks aren't just there to look pretty.

With spines inside our beaks that can hold up to 60 sandeels at a time, we can hunt without dropping the fish we've already caught.

See us in action by taking an RSPB boat tour on the beautiful Firth of Forth.

But be prepared for company – skuas, red-throated divers, kittiwakes, seals and dolphins all patrol the seas here in search of food.

All cruises have full commentary, and friendly staff and volunteers on hand to answer your questions and make sure you see plenty of birdlife.

These cruises are extremely popular and can fill up early. To avoid disappointment advance booking is essential. Tickets cost: £12 for adults and £6 for children. Family tickets (two adults and two children) are £30.

Don't miss out on your chance to see the best beaks in the business.

When can you see us?

Sailings take place on the beautiful Firth of Forth. Each cruise is three hours. Sunday cruises depart 9 am, and Wednesday cruises depart 6.30 pm.

What's at the site?

To get you even closer to the action, there are a few pairs of binoculars available for you to use. A small bar on board will be selling hot and cold drinks and basic snacks. There are toilets on board the Maid of the Forth, and indoor and outdoor seating.

How to find us

All cruises depart from Hawes Pier, South Queensferry, Edinburgh. Hawes Pier is directly opposite the famous Hawes Inn (featured in Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Kidnapped') in South Queensferry to the west of Edinburgh in the shadow of the Forth Bridge.

What should I bring?

Binoculars (if you have them) and warm/wet weather gear - even in the summer!
