A date with nature > Dates > Handsome herons at St Albans This season's highlightsKitty Brayne gives us the low-down on her date with Handsome herons at St Albans.
Handsome herons at St Albans20 February to 26 April 2009
For most of the year, grey herons hunt alone, stealthy and patient. But this is forgotten when it's time to breed and lots of them get together and build nests in the treetops, one metre across, right here in the centre of St Albans. When can you see us?Our viewpoint is open 10 am-4 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. What's at the site? Our friendly helpers will be by the lakeside to tell you all about the birds and help you to use binoculars and telescopes. How to find usOur viewpoint will be opposite the lake's largest island in Verulamium Park, right in the heart of St Albans. What should I bring?Nothing special, but we're outside so make sure you dress for the weather. Still got some questions?Telephone: Angi Davies on 01603 661662 Find out more
