Family fun

If there's one thing we've learnt over the years of asking people to do Big Garden Birdwatch, it's that preparation is key.

You'll see more birds if you give them a reason to come to you. One of the most important things you can do is make your garden a tasty spot for dinner.

The good news is that it's a piece of cake - a piece of bird cake, in fact!

Different birds like different kinds of food - from the aforementioned cake to shop-bought fat balls and things you may have in the back of a cupboard.

Below you'll find a range of recipes and activities you and your little ones can easily carry out to turn your garden or green space into your very own bird cafe.

You can also use them during and after your Birdwatch!

For many more great activities please check-out our family pages.

And watch this space for more activities and games on the weekend of Big Garden Birdwatch itself (January 30 and 31)!
