Important notice

The reserve shop will close at 3 pm on 25 March to allow the end-of-year stocktake to take place, but will reopen as usual from 9.30 am the following day. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Please note, visitors will still be able to collect reserve permits from the centre after 3pm.

  1. Watch out for the spectacular sky dance of our marsh harriers
  2. Take a stroll through the reeds listening for our 'booming' bittern
  3. Get up early to experience the fantastic sound of the dawn chorus

  1. Watch the red deer grazing around the pools or join us for a deer watch in the evening
  2. Enjoy seeing the butterflies and dragonflies as they drift by, searching for food
  3. Be amazed at the sight of marsh harriers passing food to each other while flying

  1. Get some great views of the charming bearded tits coming out of the reeds
  2. Enjoy an autumnal woodland walk, then treat yourself to some scrummy cake in the cafe!
  3. Welcome back our winter birds from their summer vacation

  1. Stay until dusk and watch for huge flocks of starlings coming to roost
  2. Get a special glimpse of a bittern venturing to the edge of the frozen pools
  3. Look for some more unusual visitors to our woodland bird feeding station
