Important notice

See project paperwork regarding Pagham Harbour and Medmerry, such as minutes and dates of the local community forum, and management plan drafts.

Top things to do in Spring

  1. Revel in the wealth of waterbirds using the harbour, fuelling up before they depart for their summer breeding grounds
  2. As the hedgerows burst into blossom, keep an eye out for spring butterflies warming themselves in the sun
  3. Watch the creeks and sluices for the tell tale ripples as grey mullets swim into the harbour to feed at low tide

Top things to do in Summer

  1. Watch little and common terns diving into the harbour for fish
  2. Experience a burst of colour from the viper's bugloss, yellow-horned poppies and sea kale on the shingle beach
  3. Relax on a peaceful evening stroll along the west side with views across the Harbour to Sidlesham Quay and Pagham Village

Top things to do in Autumn

  1. Watch and listen out for skeins of yapping brent geese returning from the Arctic
  2. Take a walk along the North Wall and catch an amazing autumnal sunset, reflected in the Harbour creeks
  3. Seek out migrant birds, including warblers in the berry-filled hedgerows and wading birds out on the marshes

Top things to do in Winter

  1. The RSPB has only just taken on the management of the reserve, so do drop in and say hello at the Visitor Centre
  2. Wrap up warm for a winter's walk down to the sea's edge, where Slavonian grebes dive offshore
  3. Visit the shelter of the Sidlesham Ferry hide to see big flocks of lapwings and wigeons on the Ferry Pool
