Poole birdboats - Seabirds along the Purbeck Coast
Saturday 18 May and Saturday 15 June
Price: Adults £14, RSPB members £12, children £8
Climb aboard for this dramatic 3-hour evening cruise along the Purbeck Coast, part of Dorset's world-renowned Jurassic Coast.
This World Heritage Site provides a spectacular backdrop to watching the frantic activities of seabirds. You might see nesting and roosting puffins, gannets, kittiwakes and guillemots.
Friendly RSPB guides will be on hand to point out different bird species and answer any of your questions throughout the trip.
The boat owners advise us that they welcome passengers with restricted mobility, but gaining access to the boats from the Quay is difficult. As the safety of our passengers is of paramount importance, we are advised that a small degree of mobility (assisted if necessary) is required to negotiate the few steps at the boarding gates. Boat crews are not permitted to lift occupied wheelchairs. Wheelchair users must have someone to assist them in the event of an emergency on board.
Brownsea Island Ferries regret that motorised wheelchairs are unable to be carried, due to difficulties that might arise in the event of an emergency requiring evacuation from the vessel. In all cases, the number of wheelchairs that may be carried on the boat is at the absolute discretion of the vessel's Master.
All Brownsea Island boats have toilet facilities on board. The boats have a heated covered lower deck, and an open top deck. Hot and cold drinks and a limited range of snacks are available.
Note: Although every effort will be made to sail, the final decision will remain with the owners and the skipper of the boat. For the comfort and safety of everyone on board, we may have to cut some cruises short.
Poole Harbour can be very cold - especially in winter. Please wear warm clothing and bring waterproofs. Binoculars are also recommended.
The cruise departs from the yellow Brownsea Island Ferry kiosk, The Quay, Poole (quite close to Poole Pottery).
