Loch of Strathbeg

Loch of Strathbeg nature reserve, Starnafin, Crimond, Fraserburgh AB43 8QN is located appx 1 mile (1.6km) north of Crimond. The reserve is signposted from the A90 at Crimond.
It is the largest dune loch in the UK, surrounded by marshes, reedbeds, grassland and dunes. RSPB is managing the site to improve conditions for birds and other wildlife.

Loch of Strathbeg has four observation hides, a viewing screen, toilets and car parks. The visitor centre, which is open daily from dawn to dusk, offers a panoramic view of the reserve.

It is a wetland of international importance - large numbers of geese, ducks and swans visit in winter.
The grassland accommodates over 20% of the world's population of pink-footed geese from September to April.
An incredible 252 species of bird have been recorded here.
