On Fiday September 18th, Graham Duff gave a talk to Cardiff local group about the Gambia.. Based upon 2 two week holidays to the small country in Africa Graham had culled his original 14,500 images into a more manageable number, but none theless he still had to curtail the planned show to allow us out before the caretaker came in. Graham, had a very relaxed style and this, with his images made for an entertraining and educational evening. I lost track of how many species he showed us but a very short list would include jacana, black winged stilt, long tailed cormorant and malachite kingfisher Then  there  were spur winged plover, cattle egret, great white egret, intermediate egret, black egret and  more, well  known birds such as wood sandpiper amongst the water birds. Raptors were represented by red necked falcons, hooded vultures, booted eagles, grasshopper buzzard, lizard buzzard, long crested eagle and brown snake eagle.
Along with all this we had photos of the local population, the country, fishing scenes and many more. Not only were the images of a very high standard but the presentation was excellent - Margaret giving some great anecdotes into the holiday. This was a great start to the 2nd part of our year and we hope to have them back before long.
