Recent Birds Seen On Local Reserve

The end of August and the beginning of September has seen a number of interesting birds turn up at our local RSPB reserve at Old Hall Marshes. The highlights were probably a great white egret and pectoral sandpiper. Other sightings have included curlew, green and wood sandpipers; black-tailed godwits; and greenshank. There have been an ever increasing number of winter species returning such as grey plover and golden plover and both hobby and merlin have been seen giving a good summer/winter mix.
Please note you need a permit from the warden to visit Old Hall Marshes.
