Places to see birds

Lee Valley Park

A large range of bird species can be seen in the Lee Valley Park particularly in winter. The area includes extensive areas of open water, scrub, marsh and farmland. In winter it is one of the best places in Britain to see the rare Bittern and a hide overlooking Seventy Acres Lake has been set up primarily for viewing this bird. Other birds of particular note include Water Rail, Smew and Kingfisher. More common birds include Canada Goose, Grey Heron and Tufted Duck.
Directions: Fishers Green car park is a particularly good starting point and can be reached by leaving the M25 at Junction 26.
