September meeting change

Apologies to all who were disappointed that the September meeting didn't feature the expected talk. This was due to circumstances beyond our control. However, our former leader, Roger, stepped in at very short notice to give us an interesting and enjoyable talk about how to encourage wildlife in your garden. This was full of helpful tips, and even the most experienced gardeners amongst us probably picked up some new ideas.

After the tea break, we then enjoyed a film about the RSPB's campaign to save the albatrosses, which are being killed in alarming numbers by being drowned on long-line fishing hooks, lured to their death by what seems like an easy meal. The film showed the good work being done by the Albatross Task Force in teaching fishing crews simple ways to avoid accidentally catching albatrosses. Many thanks to those committee members who worked so hard behind the scenes to organise this excellent evening at such short notice.
