Mid week walk in Chatsworth Park

Male goldeneye

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

11 members enjoyed a morning walk. On entering Stand Wood there were Chaffinch, Blue, Great, Coal, and Long tailed tits
A Buzzard circled overhead in the winter sunshine. We had good views of Brambling and Great Spotted Woodpecker and Nuthatch and Treecreepers were numerous.
A beautiful male Goldeneye was on Swiss lake and 14 Goosander, a Shoveler and a Kingfisher were seen on Emperor Lake.
At the Hunting Tower we stopped to admire the glorious view commenting how peaceful and relaxing our walk had been.
What a contrast when we got back to the house - car parks full with everyone coming to see the house decorated for Christmas.
What a pity they didn't see our side of "Chatsworth at Christmas".
