Leader John Kelsall

Apart from Gulls and Corvids, farmland in winter can be unproductive. Although we had the benefit of Sidlesham Ferry pool, we recorded 40 species.

The sewerage farm produced Grey and Pied Wagtails plus Meadow Pipit. We searched a barn for the usual Little Owl without success but compensation came in the form of a Buzzard over the fields. We passed machines that were profiling the Medmerry area which will become saltmarsh in the near future . Exciting!!! On the way back we recorded Yellowhammer, Grey Partridge, Little Egret and Stonechat. Returning to the Ferry Field we found Snipe, Blacktailed Godwit, Shoveller, Widgeon, Shelduck, Lapwing, Redshank and Curlew. Our thanks to John Kelsall for leading us on this very pleasant morning.
