About us

Welcome to RSPB Cleveland Local Group. Our group was formed in 1974 and has approx. 120 members, ranging from beginners to those with an extensive knowledge and experience of birdwatching and conservation. We are an informal and friendly group, always pleased to welcome new members.

We aim to foster an interest in, and enjoyment of birds, natural history, the environment and conservation. In this way we aim to promote the work of the RSPB.

We organise a varied and interesting programme of events each year including monthly indoor meetings, car trips to sites in our local area and coach trips to bird reserves further afield; as well as volunteering opportunities for interested members.

Our local subscription fee is £4.00 per household and includes three newsletters each year, advanced notification of our programme of events, reduced admission charges and, of course, lots of bird-watching opportunities.

Non-members are welcome at any of our events - please see our 'Events' page for further details.

Meeting times and costs

Our indoor meetings are held on the second Monday of each month between September and April. Indoor meetings start at 7.30 p.m. and are charged at £1.50 members, £2.50 non-members.
