About us
Welcome to Cleveland Local Group, which has been in existence since 1974. We currently have 150 members, ranging from beginners to those with extensive knowledge and experience of bird watching and conservation. We are an informal, lively and friendly group, always pleased to welcome new members.
We aim to foster and support an interest in birds, natural history, the environment and conservation. To this end, we organize a varied and interesting annual programme of events for both members and visitors alike.
Each month, from September to April, we hold an indoor meeting with a guest speaker. We always begin with refreshments, allowing members and visitors to meet in a relaxed and friendly social setting.
From September through to July, we hold monthly Sunday morning outings to sites in our local area, including visits to our local RSPB reserve at Saltholme. Twice each year we run coach trips to RSPB reserves further afield.
Through our indoor meetings, out local group website and our regular newsletter, members are kept informed about the work of our local group and the RSPB. Members are regularly invited to play an active part in supporting the RSPB, though occasional fund-raising efforts and volunteering opportunities.
Our local group subscription fee is just £4.00 per household and brings the benefit of reduced admission charges to indoor meetings, free newsletter and early notification of our annual programme of events.

Meeting times and costs
Our indoor meetings are held on the second Monday of each month between September and April. Indoor meetings start at 7.30 p.m. with refreshments served from 7.00pm. Charges are £1.50 members, £2.50 non-members.
