Buchan Country Park, Crawley

Buchan Country Park, Crawley

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

Fifteen regulars and one new member (welcome Ailsa) met on a bright but chilly morning for a walk around Buchan Country Park.

We started off very well with two noisy nuthatches (the first of several) a party of long-tailed tits and a small flock of redwings.
Things quietened down until we arrived at the Plantation where several crossbills were busily feeding on the cones, showing off their bright orange plumage in the sunshine.

Walking back down the main path we saw two treecreepers, a marsh tit and a grey wagtail.

A total of 23 species were seen or heard. Not a great number but those we saw showed really well.
