Lakeside WalkTo reach it leave the M18 at Junction 3 and take the A6182. Take the second left at the first roundabout and pass over the railway bridge to reach another roundabout. Again take the second exit and pass the Lakeside Shopping Centre and the Lakeside Inn on your left. At the next roundabout turn right where the dual carriageway narrows to a single lane because of the bus lane. Look for somewhere to park on your left. From Doncaster, turn right at the new traffic lights on Bawtry Road (A638), pass ASDA on your right, the Dome on your left to reach a roundabout. Take the second left along a short stretch of dual carriageway to reach another roundabout where you may turn right or left. Look for the many provided parking places. A stroll around the Lake, adjacent to the Lakeside Shopping outlet, is an easy walk on a paved paths. The birds can be seen at close quarters. The lake has been colonised by numerous Gulls, Tufted Ducks, Mallards, Great Crested and Little Grebes, as well as Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Coots and Moorhens. These can be seen daily, throughout the year. The number of species has grown with over wintering wildfowl such as Pochard. The adjacent rough grassland has been the home of a number of skylark pairs, as well as many different 'garden' birds. Siskin have been seen feeding on the small alder trees in the winter. A report by some birdwatchers of 130+ species has been made.
