Trip reports
Tyninghame

Sunday, 2 December 2007
As I opened the curtains at 7.10am, I could tell it was going to be a nice day (don't ask me how I just have the gift), and I was looking forward to my last birding trip of the year down at the Northern end of John Muir Country park. We arrived at the car park at the end of Lime Tree walk in good time, and soon armed with my brand new telescope, myself and about 30 other group members set of in search of our first catch of the day. As our group was so large we soon decided to split into two different parties. On our way down to the coast my first real spot was a goldcrest, plus a couple of less glamorous wood pigeons. Once we reached the shore however, I immediately spotted a gaggle of oyster catchers, a curlew and some dunlin scurrying about. Shortly after an exciting walk along the cliff edge I saw my personal highlight of the day, a good view of a puffin, my first of the year. On our walk back through the woods I got a nice view of a tree creeper and a large flock of goldcrest. So at the end of the day a really great trip to Tyningham, and a big thank you to Eppie for organising it for us. James Smith
