Capercaillie displaying in pinewoods

ENFIELD IS OFF

It is not just the racing, football and rugby that have been cancelled. I rang Norman Hudson our group leader this evening; he confirmed what we probably already knew that the Thursday eveing meeting scheduled for 7th January is off. It was inevitable really given the snow and hard frosts scheduled for the area over night.

Never mind, we will hopefully see you at our February meeting. I have not had it confirmed whether the walks scheduled for later this month are on or off. We could have a thaw before then. Let's hope so.

View over lagoon, Titchwell Marsh RSPB reserve

THAT WAS 2009 THAT WAS

I hope you had a good year watching birds and other wildlife in 2009. What were your highlights? Mine were seeing my first Eider Duck in the sea off the edge of Titchwell Marsh RSPB reserve when on the Enfield Group trip in October and seeing a Tristan's Starling at Massada fort on the Dead Sea whilst on a trip to the Holy Land at the end of Novenmber.

Hope you had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year
