RAINHAM MARSHES RSPB NATURE RESERVE ESSEX

Chiffchaff standing on gorse

Tuesday, 11 November 2008

A very good venue and most enjoyable. As a group we saw 29 species in total. Chiffchaff, Reed Bunting, Chaffinches, Goldfinches, Golden Plover (quite a good sized flock), Reed Bunting, Little Egret and a Stonechat and his mate, were among the species that showed well. The sun stayed hidden for most of the day but the day stayed dry. However the sun did appear late in the afternoon though the wind never quite died all day.

There is a very good cafe area and information centre and I like the idea of giving those who live locally free admission at all times enabling this facility to become a local amenity that everyone can enjoy.
