Loch Lomond, Inversnaid RSPB reserve

September Indoor Meeting Report

On Wednesday 2 September 2009, our Indoor Meeting season got off to a great start with 65 people enjoying a presentation from Nick Chambers, RSPB Central Scotland Reserves Site Manager. He provided an overview of the exciting project unfolding at Skinflats outlining the benefits for birds and biodiversity plus tackling the wider issue of rising sea levels. He also covered some of the work he has been overseeing at Baron's Haugh, Airds Moss and Inversnaid. The inclusion of information on habitat management and creation and its impact on plants, insects and mammals, as well as birds, was particularly appreciated. With great enthusiasm Nick provided an insight into the complexity of the many issues RSPB officers have to overcome in order to deliver the reserves and open spaces we all enjoy so much.

Remember the next Indoor meeting is on 7 October - all welcome.
