Trip reports
Glasgow University Vet School Rodeo

Saturday, 18 April 2009
On Saturday 18 April 2009, 11 members of the Group attended the Glasgow University Vet School Rodeo in Garscube Estate, Glasgow. Almost immediately we saw numerous Swallows and House Martins. In the trees alongside the River Kelvin, Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff, Chaffinches and Robins were heard whilst Mallard were also seen. The bravest bird was a Mistle Thrush that started feeding in the area allocated to the Birds of Prey falconery display!
Initially the day was overcast and chilly but when the sun broke through, people started to arrive and we were able to raise much needed funds for the the RSPB, whilst also able to enjoy such diverse attractions as ferret racing and 'Clanadonia'.
A big thank you to all that helped man our stall on the day and to Anne Cross, Don Breakey and Gordon Jamieson for supplying many of the plants, which alone raised c£135.
