Phew! What a day! Within a few minutes of leaving the coach at Wells harbour some of us were looking through our telescopes at a great white egret on Lodge Marsh. At the other end of the car park we found a slavonian grebe amongst the Little Grebes on the boating lake and later sightings included 2 gorgeous firecrests in a holly bush, an extremely late spotted flycatcher and a great grey shrike which gave cracking views. A single female snow bunting and a few thousand pink-footed geese completed a great day, whilst members of the party who got off the coach at Holkham had good views of the lesser white-fronted goose. Even the weather turned out OK except for the first hour or so, despite the dire warnings. The full list of sightings follows:
