Own Transport Trip to Stewartby, Marston Vale and Brogborough Lakes

Sunday, 14 December 2008
Nine hardy souls visited these Bedfordshire lakes and, despite the leader dropping out at short notice because of illness, we managed to negotiate our way round Stewartby lake and the Marston Vale Country Park complex, before finishing the day by driving the short distance to Brogborough in order to see the slavonian grebe which was wintering there. Nature in tooth and claw was seen in the form of a stoat repeatedly attacking a rabbit much bigger than itself, killing it and dragging it into the undergrowth: its larder would last well beyond the time when we had finished our Christmas turkeys!
