Curlew standing on weed, County Cork, Ireland

After meeting at Knott End we walked along the estuary towards Barnaby Sands. Curlews and oystercatchers probed the mud of the River Wyre while a grey heron fed on the far bank. Long-tailed tits and blue tits flitted amongst the branches at Barnaby Sands and we had good views of a variety of wildfowl and waders including turnstone, redshank, black-tailed godwit, eider, teal and wigeon. More...
