Curlew standing on weed, County Cork, Ireland

We met at Knott End with a quick shower and a cool breeze, but thankfully the weather stayed fine for the rest of our outing. Oystercatchers fed on the edge of the Wyre while a solitary male eider was on the water. A small flock of 5 twite kept alighting on the slipway. a group of bar-tailed godwits were on the mud while sanderling fed along the tideline. Several flocks of knot wheeled over the estuary. Other birds seen at Knott End included dunlin, lapwing, cormorant, great crested grebe, red-breasted merganser, curlew, black-headed gull and common gull. More...
