Places to see birds

New Swillington Ings

Swillington Ings and the surrounding area includes a rich mixture of water, wetland and wooded habitats, including what will become the new RSPB St Aidan's reserve in months to come. The area has been recognised as an important area for birds since before World War 2. There is a very active and welcoming Swillington Ings Bird Group, which maintains records for the area and has a hide overlooking Astley Lake which visitors are welcome to use when it is open. The Group's site provides a wealth of information on the area and its wildlife.
