Adel DamWell over 100 species of bird have been seen on the reserve since its establishment in 1968, including a few that are rare in this country but, not surprisingly, it is the commoner birds of woods and lakes that are most frequently seen. All three woodpeckers have been sighted in recent years, but the great spotted woodpecker is most often present, especially in the winter months when it can be seen at close range at the Marsh Hide feeding station. At the lake, kingfishers and herons are most likely to be seen in late summer and early autumn.
Visitors can use either of the Golden Acre Park car parks, one of which is on the A660 and the other on the Adel to Arthington road. http://www.ywt.org.uk/nature_reserves.php?id=2 | |
