Pegsdon Hills.Pegsdon Hills lie to the south of the B655 between Barton-le-Clay and Hitchin (OS TL120295).
Contained in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Pegsdon Hills have much to offer anyone interested in nature.
At certain times of the year the site is rich in wildflowers, herbs and butterflies and even glow-worms can be seen emerging from the grassland after dark on summer evenings.
Resident birds include Kestrel, Common buzzard, Grey & Red legged partridge, Little, Tawny & Long-eared owls, Tits and Finches. Red kites are also seen at regular intervals.
Migrating birds can be found during Spring and Autumn resting and feeding before resuming their journeys. Wheatear are seen regularly with Ring ouzel less so although double numbers have been seen recently.
