Wildlife Day at Pleasley Pit, to be opened by Dennis Skinner MP

An opportunity to see the many varieties of plants, animals, birds and insects on the site. Lots of wildlife related activities, including guided walks and pond dipping. Bird ringing by the Birklands Ringing Group.

Many things to see and do on the stalls from various wildlife organisations, including the Mansfield RSPB Group, the Ashplorers RSPB Wildlife Group, Cedar Wildlife Sanctuary, Friends of Pleasley Pit, Friends of King's Mill Reservoir, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Badger, Bee & Butterfly Conservation Groups, Mansfield & Ashfield Astronomical Society and lots more.

Learn about the birds in your garden at the RSPB stall. Books, pin badges, bird food and pocket money goodies available from the well stocked sales table. Why not try your luck at the Tombola and Raffle? Refreshments available from the Cafeteria. Come along and join us for a fun day out!

Field Trip to Rutland Water Nature Reserve

Location: Rutland Water, Rutland.

We should be able to see Ospreys at their nest site here. Who knows how
many more Raptors we might see? Many other species breed well at Rutland
Water too, so our visit should be a good one.

Wanderings in South America.

Field Trip to Spurn Point National Nature Reserve

Location: Spurn Point, situated on the north bank of the entrance to the River Humber.

We normally visit the above Reserve in October, but I thought we would go a month

Wildlife Artistry

Chris Orgill was the assistant taxidermist at Wollaton Hall, eventually choosing to paint wildlife. This talk shows the speaker's wildlife drawing and painting from his early attempts up to present day, and the importance of sketching and painting in the field, right through to the development and finished work of art. Chris is local and has his studio in Nottingham.

Field Trip to Pitsford Reservoir

It's been 19 months since we were last here and that was before the birds were
