Field Trip to Old Moor Reserve on 10th December 2006

Friday, 12 January 2007
A good variety of waterfowl were seen, including Wigeon, Gadwall, Teal, Shoveler, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Ruddy Duck, Goosander and Mallard. There were also a few grebes in attendance. We observed Kestrels and a female Sparrowhawk sitting in a tree at the bird feeding station, which kept most of the other birds away. Another amazing sight was 4000+ Golden Plovers and around 1,000 Lapwings. All these birds took to the air on numerous occasions which really was an incredible sight. 33 members made the journey to Old Moor, a site which we could call home.
