Thursday, 27 September 2007

A long list of birds were seen, including the following species; Great Crested Grebe, Fulmar, Gannet, Cormorant and Eider. While watching out to sea, a POMARINE SKUA passed through. Birds of prey seen were Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Hobby and Peregrine. When the Peregrine went through, it emptied the marsh of birds for a while. The wader count exceeded 20, with PECTORAL SANDPIPER being the pick of the bunch. Kingfisher was a good tick, being seen by many of our group and Stonechat was another pleasing sight. The weather was perfect, making the trip even more enjoyable.
