The Mansfield Group's Trip to The Lodge on 6th January 2008

Not the longest list of birds we have had on our travels, but with major earth moving operations being carried out for the land to be turned back to Heathland, our efforts were rather hampered to reach a more realistic total.

Nevertheless, sightings were as follows: Sparrowhawk, Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Redwing, Goldcrest, Long Tailed Tit, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Nuthatch, Magpie, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Brambling, Greenfinch, Goldfinch and Siskin.

The weather for January was very good, with wall to wall sunshine and feeling quite warm at times.
