MANSFIELD GROUP'S TRIP TO CONWY-DEGANWY RSPB RESERVE ON 8TH JUNE 2008

The weather for the trip was as it should be in June - HOT! The backdrop to the Reserve was breathtaking and steeped in history. Conwy Castle was built in 1284 and with Thomas Telford's magnificent suspension bridge, the whole area was indeed very scenic. Now for the birds we saw:

Little Grebe, Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Grey Lag Goose, Canada Goose, Two Black Swans, Shelduck, Gadwall, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Two Red Breasted Mergansers, Buzzard, Kestrel, Moorhen, Coot, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Black Tailed Godwit, Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black Backed Gull, Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Wheatear, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blue Tit, Jackdaw, Rook, Carrion Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Linnet and Reed Bunting. A total of 49 species!
