RSPB MANSFIELD LOCAL GROUP'S FIELD TRIP TO BRANDON MARSH on 8th March 2009

The weather did its best to spoil our day at the above Reserve and heavy showers of sleet kept us in the hides more than we would have liked. However, recording went ahead and below is a list of what we saw at this 228 acre site:

Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Bittern, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Grey Lag Goose, Canada Goose, Barnacle Goose, Shelduck, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Goldeneye, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Pheasant, Water Rail, Moorhen, Coot, Ringed Plover, Lapwing, Snipe, Green Sandpiper, Black Headed Gull, Common Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Long Tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Marsh Tit, Treecreeper, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Lesser Redpoll and Reed Bunting. A Cetti's Warbler was calling from dense cover.
