The weather was just about perfect on this field meeting. It would have been warmer had the wind been coming from the South East instead of the North East, but that was not to be. However, the list of birds seen was quite a long one, as shown below:

Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Bittern, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Grey Lag Goose, Canada Goose, Brent Goose, Shelduck, Wigeon, Gadwall, Teal, Mallard, Pintail, Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Kestrel, Red Legged Partridge, Pheasant, Water Rail, Moorhen, Coot, Oyster Catcher, Ringed Plover, Grey Plover, Lapwing, Sanderling, Purple Sandpiper, Ruff, Black Tailed Godwit, Curlew, Spotted Redshank, Redshank, Turnstone, Mediterranean Gull, Black Headed Gull, Common Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, Barn Owl, Skylark, Sand Martin, Swallow, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Cetti's Warbler, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Long Tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook, Carrion Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Brambling, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Linnet and Reed Bunting.

We had a most enjoyable day and a fruitful one, with a few migrants giving us a taste of what's to come in the next few weeks.
