2 Raising of awareness of the work of the RSPB and the Local Group and the opportunities it offers members for involvement in group activities.
2.1 A review of all advertisement of the local group, including information given in the local media and practical work to ensure that this information is available to the general public.
2.2 Planning of involvement in RSPB campaigns and events.
2.3 Agree and begin to plan event to celebrate the Local Groups 40th Anniversary in 2009.
2.4 Ensure that all group members remain aware of the focus of the a Local RSPB group, in that it has as its primary role, raising awareness of and supporting the RSPB
3 To maintain a stable committee membership with back up volunteers from the group membership for committee roles and other volunteer roles with may occur from time to time.
3.1 Maintain a list of those members who have expressed an interest in volunteering.
3.2 Development of means by which to ensure all members have the chance to become involved in the planning and evaluation of the groups activities.
4 The continued provision of a quality newsletter and website devoted to the local group.
5 Strengthen links with local wildlife explorer's youth group and consider possible joint activities and events.
6 Consider new ways to involve group members in areas of conservation, education and fund raising.
6.1 To continue to build links with local RSPB reserves at Saltholme and Geltsdale and the Red Kite Project and other conservation/natural history groups within the area.
6.2 To continue to explore the possibility of providing speakers from the group to local community groups and schools.
6.3 Organise a practical conservation group from volunteers within the local group.
6.4 Review present fund raising activities and seek to have a lead person for fund raising either on or serving the committee.
7 Collect data from field trips and collate so as to make available to all group members and other interested parties.
8 Ensure that the on going indoor and outdoor programme continues to run without interruption, that it is both informative as well as a social event and that all activities are advertised widely to members and general public and that the programme is kept under review so as to meet group members/ general public requirements.
9 Equal Ops Policy Statement: The group will not discriminate against any individual on the grounds of their sex, race or skin colour, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age and will do everything reasonably practical to make events and activities available to everyone.
