Members'Evening and Quiz

Location: Appleton Parish Hall, Dudlows Green Road, Appleton. Warrington

Tony has kindly offered to treat us all to a Quiz. Once again it will be time to put your thinking caps on. Following this there will be a chance for Members to show their slides. Anyone wishing to do so would they please let one of the committee members know. Thank you.

Field Trip to TATTON PARK and ROSTHERNE MERE

We hope to see Wildfowl and Woodland birds.

Field Trip to MERE SANDS and MARTIN MERE

Location: Meet at Mere Sands car park SD 447157 on map 108

At Mere Sands we will be looking for woodland birds and waterfowl. At Martin Mere we will be concentrating on the Swans, Geese, waders and waterfowl. There is always the chance of a rare goose in amongst the flocks. Another bird we might see is Barn Owl.

Field Trip to Carsington Water

Location: Meet at Carsington car park at SK516242 on map 119

Carsington has a lovely visitor centre and several hides. Key birds include Little and Gt. Crested Grebes, several species of duck, Little and Tawny Owls, Tree Sparrows and Woodpeckers. There is a feeding station that can be viewed from the Wildlife Centre Hide.

Field Trip to NORTH WALES COAST

Location: Meet at Llanfairfechan Car Park at 10.00a.m. at SH 679754 on map 115.

Here we will be looking for Divers, Grebes and Wildfowl. Hopefully we walk along to the salt marshes to look for Finch flocks. Where we visit after lunch will depend on what is about in the area. We hope to have Mike from RSPB Conwy with us again.

Gordon visited us last year but he is such an entertaining speaker we didn't like to turn down his offer of bringing his latest talk to us.

Field Trip to Etherow Country Park and Lyme Park

Etherow is a mixture of woodland, river and ponds. Birds we may see include, Grey Wagtail, Gt. Spotted Woodpecker, Great and Little Grebes and Kingfisher.

This reserve holds Bitterns and Bearded Tits which we will be looking for along with summer migrants and possibly birds of prey.
Grade Moderate.

Evening Walk around Moore Nature Reserve.

Location: Meet at Lapwing Lane crossroads at 7.00P.m. SJ578855 on map 108.

Here we have a chance of seeing Summer migrants, Little Grebes and butterflies. There is always the chance of a returning Green Sandpiper.

Field Trip to Aber Valley

Location: Meet at Aber car park at 10.00a.m. at SH 662721 on map 115. Grade Easy to Moderate.
Don't forget your RSPB cards.

We will walk up the valley to the waterfall looking out for Redstarts, Pied Flycatchers and Wood Warblers and hopefully birds of prey overhead. From here we may go to Aber Ogwen, Anglesey or Conwy reserve depending on the weather.
