There were good numbers of Mallard and Tufted Duck, most of which were going into eclipse plumage. Mute Swans and Canada Geese were also there in good numbers. Two of the Canada Geese were much smaller in size which caused some discussion.
The only wading bird to be seen was Lapwing of which over 200 were counted.
Only one Common Tern was observed flying over the flash along with a couple of Swifts, two Swallows and one solitary House Martin.
The highlights of the night were a Kingfisher which flew in front of the Teal hide and a beautiful male Bullfinch on one of the feeders.
Overall birdwise it was a very quiet night.
Our next meeting is to Hilbre Island on Sat.16th August.
