Evening Walk Around Gowy Meadows

Swallow perched on wire fence in Spain

Wednesday, 8 July 2009

The final evening visit of the year was to the Gowy Meadows Cheshire Wildlife Trust reserve near Ellesmere Port on Wednesday July 8th.

The site was generally quiet from the bird point of view, a few reed Bunting were seen and heard, a few Swift and Swallow fed over the meadows while a Buzzard and Kestrel hunted the area. Elsewhere a few Mallard and Tufted Duck were noted on the River Gowy itself whilst a variety of wildflowers were also noted along with a herd of Longhorn cattle the trust use to graze the meadows.
