Hobby chasing dragonflies

Guided Walk at Cheshunt Marshes and Hall Marsh Scrape

Saturday was a beautiful day with clear light.

Roy Woodward from the East London Birders' Forum led the group and extra information was provided by our own RSPB Committee Member, Tajinder Lachhar.

We were introduced to the three species of dragonfly including a Ruddy Darter (it's official name; not an author's comment) which are still flying in early autumn in the Lee Valley.

Also we had an introduction to galls including oak spangle galls and oak knopper gall, wild dog rose wasp galls (Robinson's pincushion) and the willow's kidney bean gall.

And we had THIRTY THREE spots including a buzzard, kestrel, hobby
and a sparrow hawk, which flew by twice, in case anyone missed it the first time.
