Charlie Sargent's Wildlife Photography
In the introduction to his website Charlie, a member of the RSPB North Staffs Local Group, talks about his fascination and passion for wildlife and his efforts to photograph them in their environment despite the fact that there is probably no more challenging subject than trying to photograph wildlife; the subject often being elusive or erratic in its behaviour. A further challenge for him is the quest for the perfect shot. The hope is that through his images he can make you aware how wonderful our natural world really is and more importantly how rich it can be without having to travel to exotic places around the world. Visit his site and see what is around in our local area.
North Staffordshire Conference and Seminar Centre
The indoor meetings of the RSPB North Staffordshire Local Group are held in the modern, purpose-designed Conference and Seminar Centre of the North Staffordshire Medical Centre in Hartshill Road, Stoke-on-Trent. Besides the lecture theatre in which the meetings are held there are a number of comfortable informal seating areas with a bistro where refreshments including tea and coffee are available. Most areas are air-conditioned.
Belvide Reserve
Belvide is a 180-acre canal feeder reservoir, situated near Brewood, seven miles north-west of Wolverhampton. Despite its proximity to Wolverhampton, the reserve is essentially rural in character being situated in gently undulating mixed farmland. Apart from the reservoir itself there are a variety of habitats, including woodland, reed-beds and unimproved pasture, within a relatively small area and as a result there is a rich diversity of bird life throughout the year.
