Places to see birds

Rudyard Lake

There is a wealth of wildlife living near the shores of Rudyard Lake and on the wooded hillsides surrounding the lake, tree branches are alive with coaltits, goldcrests and finches, with colourful woodpeckers and jays. Over the pastures and scrubland you can see skylarks and meadow pipits, willow warblers and other songbirds. Several varieties of duck can be seen swimming on the lake. Migrant wading birds like greenshanks and sandpipers are regular visitors, while the woods shelter badgers, foxes, squirrels, voles, mice and other small rodents.
