Birdwatching Trip to RSPB Conwy and to Llanfairfechan

View looking over estuary with Snowdonia in the distance, RSPB Conwy reserve

Sunday, 24 February 2008

Forty-two members of the Group visited RSPB Conwy and Llanfairfechan on Sunday 24th February 2008. The weather, drizzly at first, cleared up and the good light from our backs in the afternoon helped us pick out the eider duck and the red-throated and great northern divers off the coast at Llanfairfechan. The sighting of a water pipit at RSPB Conwy was special for those of us fortunate enough to see it and the day was rounded off by excellent views of a dipper on the river when we returned to the coach and by a beautiful evening sky on the journey home. A splendid day. Eighty-six species were seen; a good number for the time of year. Congratulations to Robert Gilbert who achieved his 200th species on his life list with the water pipit at Conwy.
