Birdwatching Trip to RSPB Titchwell Marsh

Reed warbler singing in reedbed

Sunday, 18 May 2008

Thirty-nine members of the Group visited RSPB Titchwell Marsh on Sunday 18th May 2008. The beautiful sunny day gave us excellent light to view the birds. As always Titchwell lived up to its reputation as one of the RSPB's star reserves. Ninety-three species were seen from the confident robins taking mealworms from the hand to distant fleeting views of a hen harrier. Between these extremes we had the pleasure of leisurely views of the avocets, marsh harriers, little and common terns, little gulls, whimbrel and several species of wader and duck from the hides. A little patience along the paths brought views of bearded tits, reed and sedge warblers and a lucky few saw the Cetti's warbler. The end of the day brought a hobby circling high above us for several minutes - a fitting end to a great day's birding.
