Birdwatching Trip to Leighton Moss

Sunday, 25 January 2009
Weather forecasts were not reassuring so it was with some pleasure that the 47 members of the Group arrived at Leighton Moss under blue skies. Although the first half-hour was a touch breezy and chilly we were later treated to one of those typically beautiful English winter days which makes being in the countryside such a joy. The glorious weather stayed with us all day giving us good light to see 78 species. As usual, at Leighton Moss, the star birds were the bitterns which were seen by many of the Group.
