Bins and Boots Walk - Greenway Bank Country Park

Long-tailed tit perched on branch

Tuesday, 24 January 2012

Ten hardy members set off from the lower car park in light rain, all set to circumnavigate the twin Knypersley pools, soon to be joined by three new recruits from the upper car park. Good views were to be had of long-tailed tits and treecreepers in the woodland, whilst a great-crested grebe and a dozen goosander showed well on the water. A short detour to the waterfall yielded brief glimpses of one of the pair of resident dippers. Crossing the dam on the home stretch, a resting female kestrel gave us our final visual treat of the day, adding one last bird to the final tally of twenty-nine.
