About us

The North Wiltshire RSPB Local Group was formed in 1973. We represent the RSPB in all SN postcode areas and, although we meet in Swindon, anyone can join us. If you wish to meet like-minded people and help make a difference for birds and wildlife, please join us at any of our meetings or field trips.

Yearly subscriptions are: £3 for single and £5 for joint/family membership.

We meet at EVEN SWINDON COMMUNITY CENTRE, JENNINGS STREET, SWINDON. Doors open at 7.30 pm and we start our meetings at 7.45 pm. Jennings Street is off Rodbourne Road and there is a good free car park.

We aim to offer:
· Monthly illustrated wildlife talks given by knowledgeable speakers.
· Monthly field trips to reserves and other quality sites. Experienced leaders are happy to give support to people at all levels of bird watching skills.
· A twice-yearly newsletter for all members.
· 100 Club (a Swindon Borough Council approved mini-lottery dedicated to raise funds for our own conservation work)
· A friendly welcome to those who are new to the RSPB or new to bird watching.

We have a small nature reserve (Brook Meadow) within Nightingale Wood at South Marston where we undertake work parties.

We can offer talks to local organisations on: Wiltshire Birds, Birds in your Garden and The History and Work of the RSPB. To book a talk please contact: Brian Timbrell on (01793) 538132. We ask for a donation of £20.

We will try to answer questions about our Group or local bird life but we are a conservation charity and cannot offer welfare or veterinary advice.

Our Group Leader is Derek LYFORD: Tel: 01793 520997
